John Weaver, the father of John Warren Weaver and the grandfather of William Munson Weaver, is thought to have been born on July 14, 1773, in Stonington, Connecticut. [Lucius E. Weaver, History and Genealogy of a Branch of the Weaver Family (Rochester, N. Y.: The Du Bois Press, 1928; facsimile reprint, Salem, Mass.: Higginson Book Company), 150, 255.] In 1794, John married Sarah (Sally) Winter in a ceremony performed by Rev. David Lillibridge of Willington. [Weaver, Branch of the Weaver Family, 255.] Although Lucius Weaver's genealogy gives the marriage date as October 20, 1794, the vital records of Willington reveal that the date was November 20, 1794. [Willington Vital Records, C:9.] Sometime around the early 1800s, John and Sarah moved to the Middlebury area of Addison County, Vermont. John died on May 22, 1835, in or around Middlebury. He was buried in River Cemetery, New Haven. [State of Vermont, General Index to Vital Records, as filmed by the Genealogical Society, Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Office of the Secretary of State, Montpelier, Vermont.] The children of John and Sarah are listed below.
