Family historians, my name is Karen Weaver (e-mail contact), and I'm located in Western Massachusetts. I'm offering fee-based ($15.00/hr.) genealogy research services for surnames connected to the history of Western Massachusetts, specifically Hampshire County and the Springfield area of Hampden County. Although I'm not a professional genealogist, I'm an accurate and thorough researcher with a background as a legal assistant for major New York City law firms. I'm in the process of developing Ancestor Research for Weaver Family Branches to present the results of my own family history research, most of which has taken place during the last ten years. My $15.00/hr. fee includes my time and the following connected items (as applicable to individual requests): local travel expenses (Hampshire County); photocopies (uncertified); telephone calls; cemetery photos; e-mail progress updates; final report of results and sources reviewed; and postage (within the United States). In addition to owning society memberships and Internet subscriptions, I have a personal collection of genealogy books and convenient access to Western Massachusetts cemeteries, churches, government offices, historical societies, and libraries. If you want to learn about your family history but don't have the time for (or don't enjoy) research, please follow the procedure below.

Research Request Procedure

  1. Send an e-mail to karenmarie@weaverfamilybranches.com for a brief review of your research assignment (no charge). Please make your request specific and detailed. You should specify the task you'd like accomplished, the facts you already know, the documents you already have, and the resources (including Internet) you've already checked. In order to control your costs, please specify a limit to the number of hours to be spent on the task. I will e-mail you to confirm the assignment.

  2. Upon completion of the assignment, I will e-mail a brief summary and my statement of services rendered.

  3. Payment should be made promptly and should include your mailing address. Upon receipt of your payment and address, I will mail the results of the assignment through the United States Postal Service.

  4. If you are interested in genealogy research services for surnames connected to locations outside of Western Massachusetts, please send an e-mail to karenmarie@weaverfamilybranches.com for a free estimate of time and any additional expenses involved. Please remember that your request should be specific and detailed.
